I'm fundraising to help gifted children and their networks get the support they need.
Nationwide
We all know the drill with cake stalls. We make a cake, we attend the event then we buy a cake. After all that effort with time and money sometimes we ask the question "Would I have been better to just donate some money?" - This is the cake stall sans cake. Without the effort of making a cake but still supporting a great cause.
Yes, I am employed by NZCGE, but I wouldn't be here fundraising if I didn't.
I didn't even understand giftedness when I started working here. In fact, I held some of the world views and misconceptions that others thought of being 'gifted'.
"they'll be OK"
"they've got plenty of support around them"
"these types of programmes are for families that can afford them".
Well, part of what we do particularly when it comes to fundraising is helping achieve equity of access because giftedness doesn't discriminate. So, that means there are lots of people out there who do not have the access to financial resources to support their specific learning needs. They need our support.
