JOIN the $5 FIGHT FOR THE FUTURE  8 May 2015

The CHB SPCA is struggling financially and calling on the public to help keep the service going.

We have launched a $5 Fight For The Future appeal to ask supporters to sign up to make a $5 a week donation (to CHB Branch RNZSPCA 03-0779-0238994–000). Any other amount or frequency is also appreciated – every little helps.

So far we are half way to the 100 sign-ups target. Help us pass 100 sign-ups.

Go to chbspca.org.nz/donate or phone 0800 CHBSPCA for help.

At present only about 75% of our expenses are covered by the income we receive.

48% of that income comes from the op shop, 26% from donation from people like you, 15% from fundraising events like cupcake day and - new for 2015 - 11% from grants.

You can see we are locally funded – we receive no government funding and no national SPCA office funding.

Do note though that only 4% is spent on administration, the rest goes directly to animal care and welfare inspectorate.

We are not financially sustainable at the moment and are calling on people like you to help us change that.

If 100 people sign up, that would net us enough to be financially sustainable in the short term, 1000 sign ups would be even better and allow us to do so much more.

We do much more that provide a home for stray cats and dogs. We are a full animal welfare inspectorate investigating and monitoring animal welfare complaints and taking on prosecutions where appropriate, rehoming unwanted and abused animals, conducting pet visits to rest homes, providing pet care and advice or emergency boarding or rehoming of pets of elderly owners where needed, and visiting school and community groups, hosting students completing their Duke of Edinburgh Award service, and Department of Corrections offenders doing community service.

All this is in jeopardy due to our financial issues. You can help out by signing up to a regular automatic payment with your bank (any amount, any frequency is appreciated).

Go to chbspca.org.nz/donate or phone 0800 CHBSPCA for help.
