Help us support people with Specific Learning Disabilities achieve success in their learning and life!

Canterbury

The Seabrook McKenzie Centre was founded over 30 years ago, to support those with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD include dyslexia and dyspraxia). After assessment and diagnosis the real work begins... we provide full intervention for each individual, including tuition, therapy and counselling. One size does not fit all when it comes to SLD! Appropriate intervention means a future with possibilities.

Over 850 people come through our doors each year. Diagnosis and intervention provides workable strategies, allowing learning dreams to become realities. Past students, at first unable to write legible sentences, are now university graduates at law firms, top chefs, IT wizards, mechanics ... they're living full lives and enjoying playing a contributing role in our communities.

Help support the Jean Seabrook Memorial School  12 August 2020

Our fantastic school would appreciate your help. Due to the covid19 shutdown, our school is re-evaluating how it will continue far into the future.

We are a primary school for children with SLD (specific learning disabilities) such as Dyslexia and Dyspraxia. This school is classed as private and receives minimal government funding. We are not in competition with mainstream schools but recognise the huge challenge mainstream schools have in meeting severe learning needs. The children who attend the school all have struggled in mainstream education.

Here at Jean Seabrook Memorial School, children have found a safe, inclusive environment where their individual needs are supported. The school produces a learning environment where all children can feel a sense of belonging, and learn at their own pace in their own way.

For many of the children who attend Jean Seabrook Memorial School, their lives have been changed. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, and the children thrive here. This school is vital to the lives of these children. Without it many children would have no suitable learning environment to go to.

The school appreciates your help. By donating you will be supporting the school and changing the lives of these children.
