Child Flight Charitable Trust aims to bring the DC3 down from Ardmore to give special needs students in mainstream schools the chance to fly
Waikato
On Sunday 24th May, Child Flight will run the MyBuddy Project from the international lounge at Hamilton Airport. Starting at noon the program will include 3 charter flights of the DC3 from Ardmore, rides in a Harvard warbird, a magic show, auction and flights in small aircraft. We are working with mainstream schools that have special needs students. Our project is called MYBUDDY, where each mainstream school takes seats on the DC3. There are 90 seats. This can be extended to more seats, but depends on our success in getting people on board. We see mainstream students choosing their special buddy and the schools helping raise money for their seats. Each seat costs $100, which Child Flight hopes to subsidise with monies raised.
We manage the entire project. We visit the schools, introduce them to the program, offer advice, supply the aircraft and pilots and hopefully subsidise the costs.
Child Flight is a registered charity that specialises in working with special needs kids. Our main activity is giving free flights. We are located in Hamilton, Whangarei, Hastings, Auckland, Whakatane, Nelson, Christchurch and Dunedin. We have aligned ourselves with most of the special needs schools in New Zealand. We have also helped raise funds for special needs causes.
Full Accreditation 23 February 2015
Today our MYBUDDY Project became fully accredited. We have begun receiving pledges which we are able to convert into full sponsorships when we achieve our target of $5000.
