1 -1 Birth Trauma Support funding.
Taranaki
1 in 3 birthing women describe their birth as traumatic.
Birth Trauma can effect bonding with your baby, breastfeeding, Postnatal Depression, PTSD, birth injuries and more.
There is not alot of support available and mother's are expected to navigate their way through parenthood whilst carrying this trauma.
My biggest belief is money should never be a barrier for mental health support. Sadly for many of us, this is our reality.
Hi, my name is Melissa Smith.
I am a mother of 2, a birth trauma survivor, and a Qualified Healing Birth Practitioner.
I offer support to women who have experienced trauma during pregnancy, birth and Postpartum.
All sessions are available in person (Taranaki based) or via zoom.
Unfortunately there is no funding for this work, so I am asking for your generosity, no matter how large or small, so more mother's can get the support that is so needed.

1-1 Birth Trauma support 16 February 2025
I wanted to personally thank all of you who have very generously donated to my Givealittle page.
All of your donations went to supporting 4 local Taranaki women with a 1-1 Birth Trauma support. It meant so much to each of them who would otherwise not have had the means to recieve this support.
In a perfect world, I would love this support to be fully funded for every single mother. I will keep advocating loudly for this.
Again thank you from the bottom of my heart for your donations.
And if you, or someone you know, is needing some support either after a traumatic birth experience including pregnancy loss, I am here to support you.
