10 Great Walks in 10 Days for Starship Children's Hospital

Auckland

Beginning on the 10th of February 2024 I will attempt 10 of New Zealand’s ‘Great Walks’ to raise as much money as possible for the Starship Children's Hospital. The ’10 in 10 Challenge’ will require I complete one track per day, back-to-back, over a 10-day period. Taking me the length of New Zealand via campervan and over 500km on foot, I will tackle the tracks in the following order:

Feb 10th Waikaremoana Track – 46km

Feb 11th Tongariro Circuit – 43km

Feb 12th Abel Tasman Track – 60km

Feb 13th Heaphy Track – 78km

Feb 14th Paparoa Track – 55km

Feb 15th Routeburn Track - 33km

Feb 16th Milford Track – 54km

Feb 17th Kepler Track – 60km

Feb 18th Humpridge Track – 61km (not official considered a ‘Great Walk’ yet..)

Feb 19th Rakiura Track 32km

This is as much a logistical challenge as it is physical. I will run and walk for between 6 and 14 hours during the day while my team and I will use the night time to commute between trail heads. I am under no illusions that this will be the hardest physical and mental challenge of my life so far.

My first goal is to raise the $6,500 required to fund the challenge, then the real mahi begins – to raise $30,000 for Starship Children's Hospital.

Times are tough for many and as the cost-of-living crisis continues the purse strings tighten. I ask that you dig deep to donate what you can in the spirit of adventure, challenging oneself and most importantly for a genuinely worthy cause.

Funds will be transferred to my personal account - then onto Starship.

Jordan Pratt's involvement (page creator)

No relationship other than the desire to support a worthy cause. Funds will be distributed to me at the conclusion of fundraiser and then onto Starship. Because of the way the page has been set up we can not apply tax credit eligibility to the page.

Use of funds

The money raised will go on to help fund many vital support services, programmes and projects such as the Starship National Air Ambulance, ward refurbishments, equipment like ventilators, kai packs for whānau and staff, research grants, and so much more.

Initial $6,500 required to fund the challenge, then $30,000 for Starship Children's Hospital via the Starship foundation.
