2019 Nelson bush fires destroying property and forcing evacuations

  • SPREADING YOUR LOVE AND SUPPORT

      1 May 2019

Kia ora friends and generous donors

We wanted to provide you a final update on how your hard earned dollars will be shared when your Givealittle donations are paid into our account this Friday.

In our last page update, we gave our donors a voice calling for nominations on where your dollars should be spread. We then canvassed many Tasman and Nelson locals over the past few weeks to find out which organisations were heavily invested throughout the Nelson Fires asking for their local community to also nominate groups for a donation.

After listening to our donors and the affected local community, below is how this final donation list now stands. The recipients will be:

    Whakatu Marae, Nelson

    Richmond New Life Church

    St John's Anglican Church, Wakefield

    Nelson Suburbs Football Club

    Nelson Volunteer Fire Brigade

    Stoke Volunteer Fire Brigade

    Wakefield Volunteer Fire Brigade

    Richmond Volunteer Fire Brigade

    Mapua Volunteer Fire Brigade

    Upper Moutere Volunteer Fire Brigade

    Red Cross

Top of the South Rural Support Trust

Prego Mediterranean Foods and Comida Cafe

    Animal Evac New Zealand Trust

    SPCA Nelson

    Nelson Fires Hay Convoy

    Nelson Clean up Crew

    Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter Trust

11 year old Leon Fenemor so he can continue sharing his artistic talent with us all

and the Tasman District Council's Mayoral Disaster Relief Fund who are currently processing applications received from locals directly affected by these fires.

A total of $28,375.80 came from 405 generous donations to our page.

Net funds of $27,311.51 will soon be paid out by Givealittle allowing us to pass on 100% of these generous donations to so many people and deserving organisations early next week.

We have said it before, and we say it again that without YOU, this fantastic result simply would not have been possible. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you again for supporting our page and getting behind those who needed our support the most.

  • The finish line is just over 24 hours away!

      27 February 2019

    Kia ora friends

With just over 24 hours left to run on our page, we are determined to keep rallying as much support as possible for this cause before it closes.

Please feel free to share this page amongst your networks and friends as every cent will continue to count for this community who are super excited to see what the final tally will be at midnight tomorrow.

We also want to give our donors a voice as to how your hard earned dollars end up being distributed. If you know of a volunteer organisation who worked tirelessly during these recent fires in and around Nelson, please email us their contact details by 5pm (NZ time) Friday 8 March 2019 so we can include them in our heartfelt thanks.

    Email: emergencyservicessolutions@gmail.com

Once again, the success of our page has been because of YOU and your generosity!!

  • Staying strong together for New Zealand - our mission continues due to your generosity

      12 February 2019

    Kia ora Friends

When we started this page we had no idea how generous Kiwis and souls around the world would be. We have received such tremendous support, witnessed so many acts of kindness and beautiful messages for those who have been effected by the recent fires in the Tasman District. This has all been from YOU!

News received today is that "Emergency services are expected to maintain a presence in the fire-affected region into March" meaning the fight is not yet over and the community has a way to go before they are back on their feet.

As our organisation is keen to distribute your money as quickly as possible, we have asked Givealittle this afternoon to amend our page closing date to the 28 February 2019. This way, one payment can be paid out to the community which they can start putting to use rather than having 3 separate payments being made over the next 3 months as it is paid out to us.

Just as those effected and our selfless volunteers are not giving up this fight, nor are we. We are determined to keep rallying as much support as possible for this cause so please feel free to share this page amongst your networks and friends as every cent will continue to count for this community over the next 16 days it is open.

Without YOU, we simply would not have been able to achieve this incredible result so far.

No words will be ever be able to express our true gratitude for your wonderful support. We look forward to keeping you updated on the progress of your generosity over coming days and weeks.

    Kia Kaha

Hello - when will you be giving the donations to Civil Defence and the Mayoral Fund? Thanks

  • HEARTFELT THANKS TO ALL OUR GENEROUS DONORS

      9 February 2019

We have been overwhelmed to see the extraordinary acts of kindness and generosity from the donors to this page over the past 24 hours.

The final total will be tallied next month and paid out by GiveaLittle, however in the meantime (and once the fires are finally put out), we will start working with the Nelson-Tasman Civil Defence team in regards to the agencies and brigades who were on the ground this week as well with the local Mayors so the money can be distributed where it needs to go as quickly as possible.

Special acknowledgement will be given to you - our donors who have contributed towards this cause. We had no idea that our donors were going to be as generous as they have been so it is our priority to return the thanks to so many awesome Kiwis and generous souls from around the globe.

    Thank you again
