We are a grassroots initiative designed to help whānau equip their children with the essential items needed to start the school year well.

SUPPORTING LOCAL STUDENTS IN 2025!
In 2024 we raised and redistributed over $7,000 worth of school supplies, up from 2023's $5,000 worth. All thanks to the amazing generosity of the Hutt Community and businesses.
"TE AWAKAIRANGI SCHOOL STATIONERY DRIVE" is back for 2025.
OUR AIM: To reduce the financial stresses whānau face when it comes to starting or returning to school at the start of the year by providing school stationery packs for children/tamariki.
OUR FOCUS: is HUTT WIDE meaning that we'll be collecting donations across the Hutt Valley and distributing them to tamariki in-need, no matter what school they attend.
OUR WHY: Going back to school after the summer holidays is expensive - especially if you've got multiple kids, uniforms, devices... News articles have repeatedly identified that as many as 64% of families go without the basics to cover back to school costs. With the added cost of living pressures many are already doing it tough. Through securing the basics – exercise books, pens, bags, glue sticks, scissors - our aim is to ensure that all our tamariki are fully equipped to embark on their school journey from day one of the school year.
HOW: We are partnering with established organisations to expand our reach and help more of our in-need tamariki. Physical donations can be made at any of our local Hutt Libraries or you can donate $ here.
Can you support this important Kaupapa?
I'm the organiser of the Drive and will coordinate the collection and distribution of donations.

The calls for support are growing! 25 January 2025
Shoutout to our incredible GiveALittle supporters—you’re absolute legends! 💕 Thank you for backing this grassroots kaupapa and for the kind messages and offers of help—we’re so stoked to have your support! 🙌
Here’s an update: As of today, we have 90+ new requests to fill, on top of the 80+ packs we sent out last week. Right now, we don’t have the donations to meet them all. On average, each pack costs about $50.00 per student (you can do the math!), and requests are already 80% higher than last year! This tells us there are even more vulnerable whānau and tamariki out there needing our help.
We’re committed to ensuring every child starts the school year equipped and ready for success—but we can’t do it alone. Can you help us spread the word with your networks? Thanks for your support this year, together we are making a difference! 💛
