24 hours of straight Handball in Wellington CBD to help businesses in Kolkata, India continue to employ and support their workers.
Wellington
Over the last five years, a group of us have been meeting every Wednesday night from 9:30 - 11:00 on lower Cuba Street to play Handball and meet our neighbours.
One of the strangest parts of lockdown was not being able to do this.
Now that we are able to meet again, we want to use a piece of the freedom we have gained back in Aotearoa to give to those who are still in the deepest throws of uncertainty due to COVID19.
A group of us will be playing handball for 24 hours straight in Wellington CBD, with 100% of the money we raise going to support our friends in Kolkata. A place where a number of us have travelled before and have friends in the community struggling to work in this time.
We are partnering with the Anglican Diocese of Wellington as part of their global
response to help support local businesses in Kolkata, India continue to pay and support their workers over COVID19.
More information about the response we are supporting can be found here: https://angmissions.org.nz/global-response/kolkata
We are friends with a number of people who are part of the community in Kolkata.
At the end of the fundraiser, we will be donating 100% of the proceeds to the Anglican Diocese of Wellington's global appeal for countries hit by COVID19. We will specifically be supporting Kolkata, India.
