Gift of support for Yakeza Mae Sarona

Yakeza is sometimes called Mimi by her close friends. Her profession is to give care and help hospital patients in their everyday medical needs.  She has the passion to carry out her responsibility as a Registered Nurse at Wellington hospital  with a kind and loving heart.  But right now, Yakeza needs our support.

Last year, she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Her cancer journey started November 2015, celebrating her 29th birthday in the hospital.  Mimi has undergone several treatment plans for about 6 months and was eventually  cleared by her oncologist.  The positive outlook of Mimi and her great faith in God has helped her get through this rough journey.  Although she has no family here in New Zealand, along the way, she has gained lots of friends as she served as an inspiration to others. She is grateful for all the help and continued support and prayers provided to her.

She's been back to work since June 2016.  However, after follow up check up this month,  she was immediately  hospitalized due to relapse of her AML. She was given intense chemo therapy treatment straight away.  Due to effect of neutropenic sepsis, she experienced high fever for about two  weeks. I saw how Yakeza patiently managed herself while feeling very sick.  She now requires to have bone marrow transplant in the future.

Today, 29 November 2016, is Yakeza's 30th birthday!  This is a huge milestone for her.  Even if Yakeza is scheduled to have a Bone marrow test on her birthday (which is a very painful procedure), she still sees this as a blessing.  A start of a NEW JOURNEY for her...
