3000 km Biked, 3000 Native Trees Planted!
Tour Aotearoa 2016
Kia ora everyone,
In Feb 2016, Ginny is joining 300 people who will cycle 3000 km from Cape Reinga to Bluff within 30 days. The ride is called Tour Aotearoa (see www.touraotearoa.nz). It is unsupported and mostly off road.
Ginny’s goal is to raise enough money to buy 1 tree for every km on the Tour, and then donate the trees to two fantastic restoration projects.
Ronga Scenic Reserve in Rai Valley run by Forest and Bird and DOC
and
Project Rameka (see www.projectrameka.carbonsink.org.nz/) in Golden Bay
Trees are costing $3/plant.
Planting trees is just one way of supporting nature, restoring our ecosystems and bringing long term action for global climate change.
By the time she reaches Bluff, 3000 native trees will be funded – and will eventually grow into a forest. For friends, whanau and fellow riders, this gives her a huge incentive to not pike on her bike.
Thank you for your support.
And if you’re on the tour, you’ll meet Ginny from Nelson. She’ll be taking 30 days on her Fargo bicycle and loving it.
