I’m running 477km for 477 orphaned children - and I’d love your help fundraising for them.

On October 7, 2023, the terror attacks in Israel left 477 children without one or both of their parents. This October, I’ll be running 477 kilometres – one for every child left orphaned.

My goal is to honour these children by carrying their stories with me, and to raise funds for the Israeli Children’s Fund, which provides long-term support for children and young adults who lost parents in the attacks. From therapy and counselling to education, career opportunities, and key life milestones, every donation helps these children heal, grow, and build a hopeful future. Why I’m Running:

I’m Jess – a Kiwi, a mum, and definitely not a natural runner. After the October 7 attacks, I struggled with how to process everything. Running became an unexpected outlet and a way to channel my feelings into something positive.

In November 2024, I ran 251km to honour the 251 hostages taken. This year, I’m taking on 477km – one for every child left orphaned – because they deserve to be remembered, supported, and carried with us into the future.

Pictured is Avigail Edan, who was 3 years old when both her parents were killed on October 7. She was taken hostage for 51 days but has since been reunited with family in Israel. She and her siblings are being cared for by family and your donation will go directly to helping them.
