70yo Superannuatent to attempt Coast to Coast record

The Mission is twofold.

First is to support my local High School who have a long and enviable record of exposing their students to the joys and physical benefits of adventurous outdoor activity. They are in the advanced planning stage of establishing a facility where year 10 students can experience up to 14 days in a wilderness situation without the trappings of our modern society learning self reliance, leadership and other outdoor recreational skills.

My second major motivation is to, hopefully, demonstrate that in later life our ability to still achieve the remarkable is limited more by our health and motivation than by the number of birthdays we have had.

I am attempting the Kathmandu Coast to Coast One Day Race, a 243km traverse of the South Island on the 8th February, 2020 and, should I finish will, at 71 years old be the oldest known finisher by quite some margin.
