#975ForLife - Raising A Million for Youthline Southland

$3,217 donated
Given by 101 generous donors in around 4 months

If every Southlander gave $9.75, Youthline Southland could put $1,000,000 into supporting the mental wellbeing of our young people.

Southland

You may or may not be aware that the statistics around youth and Mental Health in Southland, aren’t good. Over the past year, we have lost several young Southlanders in the most tragic of ways.

It is not up to us to analyse each life and figure out what we could have done, that’s what we call an ambulance at the bottom of the cliff. It is up to us now, to put in as much effort as we can, to build some barriers, warning signs, and alternative paths between our youth and the edge of that cliff. We have brilliant organisations and some incredible Guidance Counselors in our schools who are doing all they can right now to build those barriers and it’s our turn at Youthline to roll up our sleeves and offer our own tools.

Youthline Hubs around Aotearoa are able to put programmes in schools, face-to-face counseling services specifically for Youth and offer workshops for parents and anyone interacting with youth in their daily lives - teaching them what we know about effective support and communication around youth. In order to do that in Southland, we need resources and staff!

Over the next however long it takes, we are asking the team of 102,600 (that's the population of Southland) to think big and dig deep for Youthline Southland.

With a goal of $1,000,000, our aim is to employ the clinical, administrative and strategic hearts and minds that our young Southlanders deserve in their corner.

Enter: #975forlife

What does the 975 bit mean? Well, if every single person in the Southland region donated an equal share of one million dollars, it would look like $9.75 each! That feels doable, team!

There’s a few ways we can all get on board for #975forlife

1 - You can donate right HERE to our #975forLife Givealittle campaign

2 - You can make your 9.75 grow by holding a fundraiser at work, at school, online, outside your fence - however big or small, your donation WILL add up to something HUGE - yes, it will hopefully add up to a million bucks for Youthline Southland, but it will also add up to better Mental Health within our community.

Please share the campaign with your own community and, if you are not in a position to give, your encouragement and support through commenting and liking and sharing this journey through your own Social Media is actually worth more than you know!

AND if you DO decide to fundraise for Youthline Southland, then let us know!

Use the hashtag #975forLife and send us links and photos and your ideas so we can celebrate what many hearts and minds can do when they come together for each other.

Use of funds

With $1,000,000 Youthline Southland would be able to stand on its own, developing programmes and counselling services desperately needed in the deep south. Any surplus will be gifted on to another deserving organisation in Southland to pay it forward.
