Benjamin Mayes

This is my nephew Benjamin Mayes. He has a rare seizure condition called Lennox Gastaut Syndrome that he developed at the age of 4. Over time these seizures have caused him to lose all his speech and he often needs prompting to retrace every step because of interruptions to the brain. He is housebound as seizures and medications cause him to be lethargic and have severe muscle weakness. He has no form of communication but very much wants to express himself. He is being cared for and very much loved by his Mum, my sister. She has struggled financially for years as she can not enter the work force as her job (unpaid I might add) is at home caring for her son. As a special needs child, Benjamin would be entitled to grants but as an adult - nothing. His Mum is desperately trying to raise money to purchase him an iPad. He has responded well to a loan iPad and we are hopeful he will use it to communicate with his family. I started this page as my sister would never dream of asking for help but they need it so please do.
