Cyclone Josie in Fiji - A wedding now a dual funeral
Auckland
Krishneel and his new wife landed at the airport in Fiji on Sunday 1st April, expecting to be greeted by his Father and sister only to find out, after waiting for quite some time, that they were never going to make it.
The family members were on their way to the airport when their car was caught in the flood waters resulting from Cyclone Josie, the car was swept away ... Tragically neither of them survived.
What was suppose to be a congregation of family and friends to celebrate two families coming together in marriage, ended up in devastation with Fiji under water, 5 people dead, two of whom were Krishneel's father and sister.
Instead of exchanging vows and good vibes, it will be replaced by overwhelming sadness as the dead are laid to rest.
Krish it’s not your fault !
It’s not fair that things aligned in such a way that this tragedy unfolded at a time that was supposed to be the happiest day in your life. There was no way you could have prevented what happened and our love goes to you and your family at this time of despair.
This tragedy has resulted in an unforeseen double funeral, totally unexpected by anyone and even though we understand no amount of money can bring them back, or take away the pain, we are hoping to raise enough money to cover the funeral costs with a bit extra so the Bride and Groom can re-do the wedding ceremony when they feel the timing is appropriate.
Krishneel is a family friend and after hearing what had happened at what was suppose to be a happy time organising a wedding with friends and family in Fiji has now turned into a double funeral. Money was already tight with the wedding so I’m hoping that people will come together to help relieve some of the financial pressure.
100% of the funds will go to
Krishneel Goundar to recover costs of the funeral and hopefully give him a kickstart to have his wedding in the future
