Be part of a last adventure for Peter Lohmann and help fly him into Martins Bay, Fiordland, to be scattered in the wilderness by his girls.
Queenstown, Otago
Peter Lohmann was always one for a great adventure. His last wishes were to be flown by helicopter to a favourite hunting spot in Martins Bay, a very remote forest in Fiordland on the west coast of the South Island, to be scattered on a ridge. Only the best view for Dad, wow wow wow.
Our Dad will be remembered in many different ways but high on the list would be his passion for the outdoors. Perhaps one of his greatest talents was his skill as a deer stalker. His love for the wilderness and his connection to the wildlife within it was the elixir that powered his boundless energy.
If you’d like to be part of taking Peter off the beaten track on a final expedition with his girls, we’d so appreciate it. We have created this page in lieu of flowers as it's a more fitting gesture for our Pappa.
A huge thank you for your love, support and wanting to come along for the ride. Good one x
My darling father
A helicopter to take Peter and his girls into Martins Bay, Fiordland, for a final expedition into the wilderness. A donation will also be made to The Lakes District Air Rescue Trust to support the brilliant work they do.
A last adventure for Peter Lohmann - Givealittle fund update and thanks 15 May 2024
A bit of time has passed so the Lohmann girls wanted to give all you lovely people a big shout out for your wonderful support, an update on recent happenings and future plans for your kind donation.
Recently we've both been on a southern wilderness adventure, Tessa hiking the Hump Ridge track in March and Kirsty walking the Milford Track in April. We both decided to take some of Dad's ashes along for the ride with us and scatter in a few special spots along the way. These areas were favourite adventure playgrounds of Herr Lohmann (and let's face it he wouldn't want to miss out!). We both had epic and challenging trips with great friends. Highlights from the Hump were dolphin sightings, a very friendly robin, exploring otherworldly rocky outcrops at Ōkākā summit, and a jet boat ride on the Wairaurahiri River to the majestic Lake Hauroko. Kirsty's memorable moments were making it to the top of McKinnon Pass and taking in the spectacular mountain views, swims in Lake Te Anau and Milford Sound, and a surreal moment of experiencing beams of light swimming through the trees, birds chirping and singing a song when she released some of Dad's ashes on the fourth day.
We wanted to let you know the donations you made are all safely tucked away in a savings account waiting until we are ready to take Dad to Martins Bay, maybe next year.
Lastly, we've just planted a kowhai tree, kindly gifted to us for Dad, in our local reserve - we picked a prime spot!
With love Tessa and Kirsty xo
