She has always been there for others - now Diana Renwick needs us, as she faces urgent blood cancer treatment in Melbourne.
Canterbury
Diana was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in July 2021 and underwent chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant in 2022. Her cancer has now relapsed and she needs urgent treatment. Rather than repeat the same treatment in New Zealand, Diana chose to act quickly and pursue a different option while still well enough, relocating to Melbourne with just 48 hours’ preparation.
She is now set to begin a clinical trial at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre — an opportunity not available at home and one that offers real hope.
A single mum of five, Diana is an interior design tutor at Ara and the creator behind HeartFelties. She has also given extensively to her community, including serving as president of The Vocal Collective and opening her home for the past two decades for her Gingerbread Christmas House fundraiser, supporting charities.
While treatment is covered, being in Melbourne means she is unable to work while still managing costs at home in Lincoln and living expenses here. Funds may also help her children travel from New Zealand to visit.
Any support will help ease this pressure and allow Diana to focus on treatment and recovery.
I have had the privilege of singing alongside Diana in the choir we both attend. I've seen her kindness and the many ways she selflessly gives to others. Now, she and her children need our support, giving back to her is truly the least she deserves.
Living costs while in Melbourne for treatment, including insurance, travel and day to day expenses, while continuing to cover on-going costs at home in Lincoln. Support may also help her children travel from New Zealand to visit her.
