💔😢 I was devastated to hear that Cherie had passed away. She really was such a beautiful person inside and out and I will miss her beautiful smile and cheeky laughter. I loved the way she was always there for her boys, Dad, brother, friends and even strangers. She always fought fiercely for her boys and whanau and was always their number one advocate and I loved the way they loved her unconditionally. I will miss her dearly. Deepest condolences to all the family - Pat, Jono, Caleb, Jaydn and Jackson and I am thinking of you all at this very sad and extremely difficult time. We (as a community) are all here for you all. Big hugs and know you are all in our thoughts. Rest easy now Cherie xox Kerrie and Nigel Whistler 💕

  • Update 2nd Dec 2025

      2 December 2025

Hi all Cherie was hoping to make it down to Christchurch in the next few days to support her boys and brother for our Taupo Special Olympics Ten Pin Bowling Team, unfortunately she is still very unwell, is at home but hasn't much energy for anything, She is awfully gutted as she was to receive a life membership award for special Olympics for her late mother Auretta. Cherie's brother John and Caleb (Auretta's grandson) will accept this special award on her behalf. Cherie starts Chemo on the 10th December, and over the last week has had to have 2 blood transfusions and and iron transfusion. Please keep her in thoughts and share the love around!

We love you Cherie xx ❤️

  • Cherie is home from Hospital!

      18 November 2025

Cherie is home from hospital however still very unwell, she is planning on doing something fun with the boys as soon as she is strong enough. She has had an oncologist appointment and one of the options is to go on a special medication which is very expensive around $7000 every 3 weeks, is also exploring some alternatives treatments. Please keep her and her Whanau in your thoughts as they all navigate next steps
