Chase is a 3 year old who needs a heart transplant to survive.
Waikato
Chase is a chubby cheeked ,vibrant 3 year old boy who was born with Barth Syndrome, a rare genetic condition, that has caused his heart to fail. His parents were told at the beginning of the year that he will need a heart transplant to survive. The specialist medical team put through an application, on the family's behalf, to the Ministry of Health for funding to get them to Melbourne, Australia, where Chase would be placed on an indefinite wait-list, as peadiatric transplants aren't available in New Zealand. After an 8 month wait, they received devastating news. The application was declined with no real explanation why. Now waiting on an appeal of this decision, the family is in a desperate place of uncertainty while Chase remains in need of a new heart, a cost that may be upwards of half a million dollars.

Funds will go towards the life-saving surgery and all associated costs. If in the event the transplant is declined, the money raised will go towards Chases bucket list and making him as comfortable as possible with the time he has left.
Here's where we are now.... 26 February 2024
We are nearly 3 months post transplant now. We are still in Auckland for the foreseeable future. We are staying near Starship hospital as we still have blood tests and appointments a few times a week and we are also going over to Wilson centre on the north shore 3x a week for physio and cardiac rehab and short bursts of schooling. Chase is doing really well with his new heart but this part is also very challenging and intense as we work through the rehab and the trauma he’s been through.
