Tairua Residents and Ratepayers Association is raising $4,500 for a pontoon, creating a safe and fun new spot for everyone to enjoy.
Tairua, Waikato
The Tairua Residents and Ratepayers Association is excited to share a project that will add something special to our summer experience in Tairua: a swimming pontoon in the Pepe channel of the harbour.
We’re thrilled to announce that resource consent has been approved, and we’re one big step closer to making this vision a reality.
If you’ve ever spent time around the Pepe Bridge, you’ll know it’s a much-loved rite of passage to leap from its edge into the stream below. This new pontoon will offer a safer, family-friendly space for people to swim, gain confidence, and enjoy the magic of Tairua’s waterways. It’s set to become a beloved feature of the town.
The pontoon will be installed in the Pepe Stream channel of the Tairua Harbour, about 25 metres downstream from the Pepe Bridge, right between the Pepe Reserve playground and the Tairua Community Hall.
💰 We Need Your Help
With approvals secured and the pontoon sourced, our final hurdle is funding. We’re aiming to raise $4500 to complete the purchase and get everything in place — and this is where is where our awesome community comes in. Whether you’re a local, a long-time visitor, or someone who just loves Tairua summers, your contribution will help float this project to completion. Every dollar counts, and any support is hugely appreciated.
