Aaron's Fight Club Update
12 April 2023I don't know how we appropriately thank people for their generosity at such junctures in our lives but ..thank you. Aaron has completed round one of his chemotherapy. As he had pneumonia on arrival and was only days away from AML taking control it was a tumultuous round. However, the result was as good as it could be and we are now into the second round of a minimum of four rounds . He is significantly more comfortable this round.
The DNA analysis of his blood shows that he has a gene mutation that means he is less likely to require stem cell transfusions (some good news!).
He is positive and focused. He attributes his ability to do exactly what is needed to his athletic and work training. (Although he may be setting me up with a positive perception of his pursuits so he can realign priorities on exit!)
At the end of this round, in approximately three weeks, he will have another bone marrow biopsy to define what the ideal protocol for future treatment is and how successful the treatment to date has been.
We have every reason to be positive. At times it feels a little like tight rope walking , but we know that there are plenty of people behind us. Ask any sports person, people cheering for you increases your chances of winning. Thank you for all your cheering! It is noticed and it is helping us along this road.
