The Active Hearts team are getting involved!
12 July 20182018 is halfway through and things are ticking along nicely. Here the latest from the Hearts team.
Mel and Elder ran the 2018 Everest Marathon! What an accomplishment!
These two legends trained, fund-raised and ran on behalf of the Active Hearts Foundation May 29th 2018! The race is run from Everest base camp to Namche Bazaar, the Sherpa capital, on the 29th of May each year. This is the anniversary day of Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norqay's first summit of Mt Everest in 1953. Out of 133 entrants Mel finished 46th in 8:22.07 (2nd from NZ) and Elder 34th in 7:34.29 (1st from Peru) respectfully. Congratulations you two and thank you for your hard work! In total they raised about $4500NZD!!
Our two Nepali brothers Arjun and Gokul Adhikari recently spent 4 weeks touring around New Zealand with Dan. Arjun and Gokul work tirelessly for Active Hearts in Nepal and it was a real privilege to have the guys here in NZ and thank them for their kind actions. We toured the South Island and saw many beautiful sights. Highlights were many. Some were blue cod fishing off Moeraki, dancing up a storm with the deep south Riverton crew and cooking the Active Adventures office staff a massive delicious traditional Dal Bhat feast in Queenstown. Spending time with all their New Zealand based friends was very special part of the trip.
Our latest Library!
We are excited to announce the next Active Hearts library project! It will be in beautiful Sarsyu village in the Himalayan foothills. We will build and furnish, stock with books (reading and curriculum related) and supply computers to enhance the students learning opportunities.
We are aiming to raise $6000 USD for the project.
We are planning on completing and opening this library on Friday Nov 2th 2018. You can donate here or head to our website.
