After the cancer treatment, help us honeymoon in Disneyland.

In what Adam describes as a 'Sliding Doors' moment, he went to the GP to get his foot looked at, all because the pet shop was closed. The next day a phone call asked Adam to make a follow-up appointment to discuss the blood results. The next few weeks were a whirlwind taking us from high suspicion of cancer to confirmed metastatic grade 3 prostate cancer. A treatment plan meeting on Christmas Eve and a compassionate conversation gave us a view of what was to come.
Chemotherapy started in February 2021, followed swiftly by radiotherapy. Which ended, aptly on the 13th of August. The day, a year later we stood in one of our special places and got married.
Admittedly we took our time to get here. Deciding to get married was not a flippant thought. When cancer slaps you in the face, everything alters and what truly matters becomes a little bit clearer.
Adam's parents, who haven't seen him since his diagnosis because of the travel restrictions of COVID were looking forward to visiting us this autumn, however, Adam's dad had a stroke in May and though he's recovered well a long trip to the other side of the world is on pause for the moment.
So we're heading to the UK to see them and it also means we'll be able to celebrate our wedding with friends and family. This means we get to honeymoon in Disneyland Paris, a place with lots of happy memories for us. This fund is for us to be able to make that time in Disneyland really special for us both after the ride of the last few years.
Our honeymoon in Disneyland Paris, at the end of a UK trip, to see family and friends.
Disney Time 15 October 2022
Well, we are now back in New Zealand after 6 weeks away, a time that wrapped up with those few days in Disney that was our honeymoon. We navigated train strikes, long bus rides, family gatherings and friends meeting up in all sorts of places. A whole load of people came together to help us make things work, took time out to see us and generally were all round marvels. Your donations have helped us ease our way through, particularly the travel challenges. So thank you for making our time way easier. We also spent money on the new fast pass system in operation at Disney. This meant Adam didn't have to stand for as long in a slow moving queue. It also meant we could add in rest time and get to the rides we wanted to enjoy.
Thank you all for making this time and this honeymoon easier and more relaxed. We couldn't have done it without you.
Thank you, Sarah, how lovely. xx
Thank you so so much xx
Thank you. Indeed. We are both in need of the break and the fun of Disney.
Thank you so much Shelley. xx
