Adonai (4) has Chronic Kidney Disease. I'm donating my kidney to her. Transplant in August at Starship, needing support for 6-12 weeks.
Invercargill, Southland
Our hearts broke when our daughter, Adonai, suddenly fell critically ill after her 2nd birthday in 2022. It was a whirlwind as we rushed her to Christchurch Hospital and then to Starship Children's Hospital. Seeing her in PICU in an induced coma was an incredibly difficult experience. Our darling girl was diagnosed with pneumococcal illness in her right lung and HUS, which tragically led to End Stage Kidney Disease.
As a father, I would do anything for my children, and due to what my daughter went through, I'm donating my kidney to her so she can keep spreading her beautiful light in this world. Over the past 12 months, I have undergone 15 tests for the work-up procedure. This has been done throughout Southland, Otago, and Auckland Hospitals.
In August, we will be going to Starship Auckland for a kidney transplant. We anticipate needing to be there for 6-12 weeks, during which time our family of 9 will be split up into 3 different locations. This separation will be difficult for all of us, and we'll require support throughout our stay, which can be financially challenging as we juggle our roles as full-time caregivers as well as donating my kidney.
Adonai is my beautiful daughter, fourth in line of six wonderful children with my virtuous wife Kahutaiki.
Return Flights $4,200
Transport $10,000
Clothing $3,000
Food and other expenses $5,000
Entertainment $7,800
This is to provide entertainment and educational experiences for our children with medical and high to medium neudiverse needs.
If we do not raise the full amount we will use the funds provided firstly on flights, and then on transport to get around Auckland as it is expensive for a large family.
Thank you so very much. Our recovery is going extremely well, it's a long journey ahead though.
