The life, love, music and family of Aj Hickling. A Fundraiser for AJ's Tangi & to support his Family.

Beloved Friends, Family & Community.

In the wake of the profound loss of Aj Hickling, whose music & spirit enriched our lives & made the world more beautiful, we come together to support his family during this challenging time. AJ died in his family home on Dec 29th, surrounded by some of his dearest family & friends, & held in the hearts of many. This followed a swift, yet fierce & courageous journey with pancreatic cancer. AJ faced this with resilience and grace all the while not wanting to part from his family, children, home, community & the music that defined him.

Left behind are his partner Freja, his five-year-old son Ra, 14-year-old daughter Dyani & 15-year-old stepdaughter Jali.

Aj's influence on New Zealand's musical, festival & busking culture is deeply felt, he has graced, inspired and given so much to so many of us touching the lives of many both in his homeland & beyond.

A heartfelt thank you to all who choose to support here and to those who have already extended their care and compassion. Your love wraps Aj's family in a warm embrace during this incredibly difficult time.

Use of funds

Contributions will provide practical financial support for AJ's immediate family in the challenging immediate months ahead & for his Tangi, an event for the community to come together to grieve, laugh, cry & celebrate AJ's life & musical legacy.

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported our family at this time.

I am completely blown away at the generosity from so many people, many of you I have never met.

Your donations will ease the burden for myself and the kids moving forward while we rebuild our lives and make sense of our loss.

I cannot express my gratitude deeply enough.

We had a deep, heart-felt send off for AJ, we could not have done it without your support. Thank you.

I feel deeply moved by our celebration of AJ's life at the tangi, and to witness what an impact he had on so many people. Thank you for your messages of what an impact he had on you.

Whether you knew AJ intimately, or had just met him briefly, may his life inspire you to step out of the rush for a moment to remember that beauty exists everywhere, and that to experience it is our birthright.
