I’m competing in a 10km run, to help support the Sophie Elliott foundation and raise awareness and help prevent abusive relationships.

I’m running 10km on the 9th of September to raise money and awareness for the Sophie Elliott foundation
This organisation works hard to educate young people around New Zealand about what an abusive relationship is and the warning signs to look out for.
Abuse comes in many different forms, while we may be able to recognise the more “obvious” signs of a physically abusive relationship, emotional and sexual abuse is just as prevalent and damaging.
Intense jealousy and possessiveness are NOT displays of love. A partner should never control you or your choices, manipulate you, isolate you from your friends/family, threaten you, put you down, intimidate you, scream at you or make you feel worthless. You should never feel forced or obligated to participate in anything sexual that you’re not comfortable with.
A healthy relationship is a partnership full of trust and respect. Your partner should empower you, support you and love you.
The best way to stop abusive relationships is through education and awareness. It’s also so important to realise your own worth and know you deserve to be treated with genuine love and respect.
We need to empower our youth and set the bar high for relationships and self worth.
That’s why I’m running. A year ago I started on a “health journey” because I wanted to treat my body with the respect it deserves. I could barely do a maccas run without breaking a sweat, so running 10km is a huge feat for me. I hope through challenging myself physically and mentally, I can also support this wonderful foundation.
If you’ve gotten this far, THANK YOU!!! And if you can spare even $1, it would make all the difference ❤️
I am running a 10km race to raise funds and awareness for the Sophie Elliot foundation
All funds will be donated to the Sophie Elliott foundation, which in turn will be helped to educate and prevent abusive relationships
