We are the biggest tennis club in NZ - help us to build a new clubhouse for us and for local community groups.
Auckland
Milford Tennis Club has served Milford well for nearly 90 years. It is a thriving, diverse, family-focused club, with half of the membership being juniors. It is the largest tennis club in New Zealand, and by far the busiest in terms of members per court. It is a very well-managed club with sound audited finances. However, our clubhouse is in urgent need of replacement - a new clubhouse will enable us to continue to support and develop our local tennis players well into the future
The existing clubhouse was built in the 1920’s. There are serious concerns re its structural integrity; it has less than 5% of the current building code. It is uneconomic to repair and needs to be replaced.
Planning is well underway to create a stunning new clubhouse, overlooking Lake Pupuke, for everyone to enjoy and be proud of for many years to come.
The clubhouse will be multi purpose - already we have interest from:
Plunket for a Toy Library and Parent Groups; Alliance Francaise for French classes and.
New Dawn Partnership who already use our facilities.
To date we have:
* wonderful concept plans by Ashton Mitchell, architects;
* a new 30 year lease from Auckland Council;
* Resource Consent and Building Consent'
* Funding from Auckland Council, NZCT and Youthtown;
* The Club itself and our members have also contributed some $250,000.
However, we still have a significant funding gap of around $400,000. We have held many successful fundraising events and will continue to do so. But we need help from the wider community if we are to make our dream a reality.
This clubhouse will be a legacy building, and will benefit not only the Club, but also the wider Milford community.
Please play a part in securing an essential sports and community facility for Milford.
