Camp for Wellington kids suffering from their parent's incarceration.
Wellington
At our “Master Chef” Camp – the kids will learn both cooking and budgeting skills, whilst also learning tools to manage flight or fight response when under pressure. They will get to use these tools during the pressure aspects of the Master Chef competition and scheduled practice slots. Our Master Chef camp commences in April 2015, for kids aged 12-15 years. Our aim is to provide these disadvantaged young kiwis with a week long camping experience that changes the course of their lives by introducing them to new life skills and leaders who care enough to invest in their lives for the long term.
I would like to fundraise for camps for the children of prisoner's in NZ, which is why I volunteer at PFNZ. I believe that by every measure prisoner's children are the most severely at risk children and youth in NZ. They are at greater risk of depression, crime, teenage pregnancy, neglect, suicide, child abuse, illiteracy, incarceration, substance abuse and violence.
With your help we are able to give vulnerable children and their families an invaluable hand up in life. Camp is just one of the many things we do at PFNZ.
PFNZ is an NGO working with NZ's children of prisoners and their families. In 2014 we delivered 3547 Christmas presents to kiwi kids from their parents behind bars. In 2011, we ran our first kids camp. Annually we run 6 camps, Christmas meals, social outings, counselling services and family support. All of this happens with the generous support of people like you and our hundreds of invaluable volunteers throughout the country.
