    Kia Ora whanau,

Ange is permanently at home now. She is still having occupational therapy to help with teaching her brain how process and sequencing. She is continuing with her hydrotherapy too as it is still hard for her to lift her arms, her muscles can be very sore after this. She is not ready to return to work and won’t be for some time. Her partner Corey has taken more time off work to care for her and hopefully this will increase her chance of a full recovery and return to work.

We thank you all so much for your support, we are truly grateful. Arohanui xx

Kia Ora whanau. Long awaited update… my apologies!!!!

Ange is doing amazing. She had the EVD removed on Friday. (The brain fluid drain)This means there is no need for a shunt…. OMG. Yes 🙌 we were shocked and tears of joy followed. She is now moving closer to the door. She will continue to be under observation in Wellington neurology ward until the weekend. Hopefully, all going well, and it really is now, she could possibly return to Nelson at the weekend. She is still being fed by the tube, but having some yoghurt. Bet she’s hanging out for a good pie.

Please keep her in your prayers/thoughts, positive vibes, light and love ❤️ ❤️❤️

Ange has had an up and down week. She is on the neurological ward. After her drain was changed her infection was not improving. Her temperature increased so she was sent for a CT. There was an area of interest so was sent for an MRI. Neurologists thought she had an abscess at the drain site in the soft tissue. This meant the drain required changing again and the abscess removed. Once she was on the operating table the abscess was found to be no more than a fluid sac. This was drained and sent for testing. She is on high strength antibiotics which will hopefully clear the infection for good.

It has been confirmed that Ange needs to have one final operation. This is the implementation of a shunt. It will be connected at the base of her brain or at the top of her spinal cord to transport her brain fluid to her stomach. This is something she will require for the rest of her life. She should have a couple of days recovery, then it will be home to Nelson hospital where she will begin her rehabilitation. This is likely to be learning to walk again. She is quite fragile. I’m told her muscle memory will kick into action and it shouldn’t take long. She has not yet returned to solid food, I’m told this is possible maybe tomorrow.

We cannot thank you enough for your continued love and support.

Please keep her in your prayers/thoughts, positive vibes, light and love. Hopefully she will be home to Nelson hospital next week, where Rose and Kai will be able to see their mum. ❤️❤️‍🩹❤️

Just spent a couple days with Ange. She is still in ICU. She is recovering well. She is still being fed through a tube and has the oxygen apparatus on to prevent pneumonia. The neurology surgeons have been challenging her EVD yesterday and it well. (Turning it to medium) This means her body is now draining the brain fluid through natural channels like we do. All going well, this means she will avoid the need for a shunt. She is trying to talk but because her throat was damaged badly by the original breathing tube this will take some time. She understands when being spoken to. She can move all her limbs on command.

The last hurdle before she goes home to Nelson is removal of the EVD and getting her fever under control. She has had an infection which she is recovering from. Also as the EVD is a plastic tube to her brain and this is prone to bacteria, hense the temps. The cultures produced in the lab have shown a decline, so hopefully today the EVD will be switched off to see how she manages, all going well they will remove it.

Thank you for the love and support. Please keep Ange in your prayers/thoughts, keep sending positive vibes and light her way as she is definitely not out of the woods. Please keep her partner Corey in your prayers/thoughts, positive vibes and light too. He has been Ange’s rock, by her side day and night 24/7. Each time I leave Wellington I know Ange going to be ok with Corey by her side. ❤️❤️❤️

    Kia Ora whanau,

Ange is doing ok. She had a rough day yesterday. They changed her drain that is connected to the top of her head, it is to relieve the fluid. We do it naturally, but Ange needs help with the drain doing it for her for a few more days. There was a complication that was remedied a few hours after the change. She was then moved to the ward shortly after. With all this excitement going on she stopped absorbing her intravenous feed. This meant she started to vomit, and has some fluid on her lungs. She also has a bit stuck in her windpipe which physio is helping her dislodge naturally. She is awake and on minimal meds with a breathing mask. She is still recovering well, just a wee setback. She is in good hands in Wellington.

Please keep the prayers, thoughts, positive vibes, light and aroha coming. She really is doing her best and together we will bring her home to Motueka and her family. ❤️❤️❤️

Kia Ora whanau! Ange is off sedation. She has the breathing apparatus removed and doing well on her own. She is uncomfortable and keeps wriggling around the bed. She is following commands and moving all her body. She will have a CT tomorrow to check how her brain is healing. Today is a rest day.

I am so proud of her and more importantly she can be proud of herself. Her determination is unrelenting.

We cannot thank you enough for your, prayers, positivity, thoughts and words of encouragement. She is not out of woods yet, so please keep them coming.

From all the whanau, thank you for your financial help. We are truly grateful. This will help immensely with Ange’s return home.

    Arohanui ❤️❤️❤️

Sadly Ange is still in a critical condition in Wellington ICU. She was making great progress at 2 weeks when all equipment had been removed and she was speaking and full function of her body, humour in tact. 😀

Unfortunately she had a seizure which put her back to the 5 day mark. She is back on life support and sedated. The original aneurysm started bleeding again. Thankfully her brain clotted the bleed on its own. She is having vasospasm which means that her blood vessels in her brain have narrowed. Once they relax the Nero surgeon will be able to re-coil the bleed. That said, they are doing a sedation hold daily, where they turn off the sleepy drugs and she wakes up. She still has full function of her left and right side on command so understands when being asked to squeeze hands and wriggle toes, open her eyes etc. she can lean in with her head and hug.

Please keep sending the good vibes, prayers, light and anything else I’ve missed.

Our girl is strong, she is so blessed to have each and every one of you in her life.

All our love! ❤️ Tash, Ray, Shar, Corey, Teresa, Noel, Rose, Kai, Rowan, Matt, Pomare, Poss and all Angie’s nieces and nephews! Xx
