We had another successful holiday programme packed with learning, fun, friends and of course animals. We travelled within Bay of Plenty, including Rotorua, Taupo, Cambridge, and Hamilton to awesome animal inspired venues where the kids got close up, to pat, feed and learn about animals and how to care for them. Thanks so much to all our very generous donors who contributed to the fun and learning these kids experienced!!

  • Another very happy parent and child story, I love hearing these!

      23 February 2020

You will have seen us share posts over the last few months of C at Animals inspiring kids not only learning and thriving in an environment that is considered a safe haven for her but she is gaining essential skills that can take a wee bit more practice and a different approach. I am legitimately lost for words as to how much her time here is helping her to gain a sense of herself, feel accepted, included, understood and her health and wellbeing is absolutely look after and monitored, Somewhere she is able to try and forget about the daily challenges she has not only neurodiversly but also the extra effort her lungs and body have to physically make on a daily basis. – Not only her but all the other precious kids that attend here.

AIK run special programmes in the holidays for these kids, with a maximum of 4 kids per day and an overall theme as animal inspired due to the amazing healing nature and power that animals have with an abundance of learning opportunities as mainstream holiday programmes don’t always work and they dont cope with the large numbers. For example our C was turned down by one local provider as they were unable to provide her the adequate supervision.

But to provide the experiences to these kids and the resources needed they need donations to help. Please try and get behind them if you can, it all helps.

  • January School Holiday Programme

      30 January 2020

Eight kids had an amazing time during our 3 week holiday programme in January with boys and girls overnight camping, building kitset bird feeders and awesome animal inspired outings. We went to Agrodome in Rotorua, Wingspan in Rotorua, Bullswool in Waihi, Rainbow Springs in Rotorua, Hamilton Zoo and Fancy Cat Meow cat café in Rotorua. It is so rewarding to see these kids fascinated and learning about animals while extending their social and communication skills. Friends were made, new experiences and learnings were enjoyed, and memories created, just awesome!

  • School holiday programme

The funds donated to date have been used to give the children outings during the latest school holiday programme. These outings included Paradise Valley Springs in Rotorua, The Cow Shed in Hamilton, Marshalls Animal Park in Tauranga, the Bird Gardens in Katikati, and the movies. The children went in groups of up to four, and each day we had a different team leader. The children not only learnt a lot about the animals they encountered but also about team work and leadership skills, as well as relationship building and extending their social skills. The school holiday programme was very successful and the funds donated meant that the parents didn't have to pay for the outings and entry fees. We were also able to take a child to Equidays last weekend at Mystery Creek in Hamilton, as his special interest is all things horses. Thank you so much for all of the generous donations to Animals Inspiring Kids. I know that the parents and children who have benefited from your donations are as grateful as I am for your support. Please continue to share this page around for the benefit of children who live with daily challenges!!

  • Feedback from a parent about how the service helps her daughter

Animal therapy at its finest 👌 another quality afternoon for this kid and she loves everything about coming here. So brave she got on the big horse.. and reading with Mollie. Reading used to be more than a chore with meltdowns shutdowns anxiety... and now although still disliking it still.... the last few weeks have seen a reduction in these occurrences ❤

Any help or donations appreciated, why? Cause, Animals Inspiring Kids is absolutely amazing, just read the description on this give a little page because that is exactly what they do...Chloe absolutely loves going here, and literally talks about it everyday. Leanne is amazing and extremely attentive with Chloe's health conditions, and her spectrum needs. She is gaining so much from these experiences with AIK and we are beyond grateful to have found such a wonderful service and place for our wee girl to go. 👇
