Anna's Road to Recovery

$5,740 donated
Given by 60 generous donors in around 3 months

Supporting Anna and her family financially as she takes time to recover from a car crash.

Auckland

Anna Gillen, a mother to five children including 7-month-old twins had a horrific car crash and is now in hospital with broken vertebrae, fractured ribs and neck, and a concussion. Her recovery ahead will be lengthy.

Anna, for the foreseeable future will not be able to care for her children. Both her and her husband are leaning on everyone around them for support including their church community, extended family and friends. Her husband Dominic is self-employed, and the only income earner, which means he will not be able to work while he becomes solely responsible at home.

As Dominic will need to be off work for a while, this will be putting immense strain on their finances. So, I have set up this Give a Little page in the hope that you can help them out. Any amount as little or as much as you can donate will be appreciated. This will provide some peace of mind while they journey through this challenging time.

Use of funds

The money you'll be donating will be used on essentials such as day to day costs like food, bills/mortgage payments, travel costs to and from medical appointments for recovery.

UPDATE on Anna's recovery  8 October 2024

Hello and Thank you so much to all of you who generously donated so far.

These donations have been vital to Anna's ability to have her husband Dominic at home to care for their children and day to day tasks.

This has meant no income apart from ACC support which is no where near enough for bills and cost of living. So THANK YOU so much from the bottom of our hearts.

Anna's recovery is slow, she has had some hiccups along the way as expected with such an injury. Unfortunately through this very tough time Anna also lost her Dad who she misses immensely. Anna is still in recovery, continuing to need physio and specialists appointments. Still not able to bare weight and still in a lot of pain. Anna is not one to shy away from the hard work ahead of her with her recovery, so with her immediate support and determination Anna will keep at it. Just taking it one step at a time.

The donations have been appreciated and useful for bills and living costs.

If you can find it in your heart and are able to donate further this will be further help for the ongoing bills and ability for Dominic to stay home to continue supporting the home duties while Anna is still not able to.

Again THANK YOU THANK YOU so much.

This photo really is precious, while all smiles, I know Anna is in so much pain and really slow to mobilise, but grateful for her life and journey ahead no matter how hard it may be.
