Get Anton Diving at the World Junior Champs

  • CONGRATULATIONS ANTON -World Junior 3M finals

      13 September 2014

There's a new photo on this web-site which shows the results from the preliminary round of 30 Divers in Group B 14/15 Boys. AMAZING! Anton led the way with the 5 compulsory dives. He dived coolly and with great composure. The scores started changing once the divers performed their optional dives. The scores were very close. He qualified 3rd. His coach James said 'Brilliant. What a class performance'. The finals saw the divers compete just their 4 most difficult dives. And Anton went in with the top compulsory dive score which was carried through. 'It was a tough final' - as the DNZ Manager, Lindsay, put it. Anton had another fantastic day at the pool and finished 8th. He has competed successfully at a World Class Level, his first major Elite international event. He is now known on that scene. His coach said 'If someone told me he would get to two finals before we left I would have been happy. We got two finals. Happy coach right here'. The selectors are rapt very pleased with the great representation for 'our country and sport'. Anton we are proud of what you've achieved and excited of what's to come. WELL DONE TO STEP INTO THE NEXT LEVEL OF SPORT. As Maria of Wellington Diving Club said 'Anton is proof that NZ can do it !!...He is up there with the BEST!!' http://www.finapenza2014.com/sites/default/files/springboard_3m_boys_final.pdf

  • FINAL - World Junior 1m - Boys 14/15!

      12 September 2014

Kia Ora everyone The manager of the NZ team, Lindsay, wrote at 6.7 am 'We were late back from the pool tonight and it was all down to Anton Jenkins keeping us there'... 'But it was Anton's day today. He was magnificent in the Group B Boys 1 metre preliminaries and although he was coming 2nd with two rounds to go his qualifying position for the 6th for the final was outstanding. And his carry through score from compulsories was the third highest. And congratulations to James (his coach) for his first world champs finalist'. 'It was a case of what might have been as Anton was again very consistent but for balk on his second dive. As a number of other divers crashed out he could have had a bronze medal it was that close, but he had to settle for 9th place'. 'A great result and we are all pleased... So another Top 10 finish for New Zealand and he was second in the Commonwealth'. - From Mandy The preliminary event lasted nearly 4 hours. In the final (12 people) they only did their 4 hardest dives. Anton dives Saturday at 6 pm NZ time. This is the live streaming site: www.art-works.ru. The full results are on the FINA Penza site: www.fina-penza2014.com. Antons aim was to get to a Final.

  • Leaving on Monday

      30 August 2014

Hello everyone!!! I am really excited to be actually going to Russia! I can't believe how thoughtful everyone has been with donating towards my trip. I am leaving this Monday, and we are flying to Auckland to meet up with the other members of the team, then we fly to Australia and then out to Dubai!! We then go from Dubai to London!! I am extremely excited for this because we are training in the London Olympic Pool! We stay in London for a few days then fly out to Moscow, and then to Penza. The whole trip is 18 days, which meant I have bought some new gear and tracksuit and also a new suitcase. While I am away, I will be turning 15 which will be pretty cool having my birthday in a different country. Only 2 more days until the trip begins!! Thank you so much to everyone who has helped me get here! :)

  • Results From Nationals

      18 August 2014

Hello everybody!! I have now reached $6000 and I am absolutely amazed!! I would like to thank everyone who has donated from Canada, USA, the United Kingdom, Australia and all over New Zealand. Thanks to family friends, fellow divers, neighbours, work friends, and old friends of my parents. It is awesome how much support I am getting. I have come back from the NZ National Championships just yesterday. I won 3 gold medals in the 14/15 boys 1 metre and 3 metre event and also the Open Mens 3 metre. I also broke and set a new New Zealand record one the 1 metre which I am really happy with. I also came back with 4 trophies which I was not expecting at all. All the divers heading off to Russia also had a small meeting to discuss the trip. We leave for Auckland, then we are off to Melbourne and then to London where we are staying for a few days and also training. We then go to Moscow. I hear we are also coming back via Dubai airport which is super exciting!!! thanks again :))

  • Leaving for Nationals in Auckland!!!

      13 August 2014

Hello everyone, Tomorrow I leave for Auckland for the diving New Zealand Nationals Championships! I will be competing in 5 events which consist of age group events and open age events. Divers from Auckland, Hamilton Wellington and all the way from Otago will be competing at this competition and it will be great to catch up with some divers I haven't seen in ages. I am so happy with the donations still coming in even though our goal has been met, because every donation still counts towards the trip. I would like to say thanks to the anonymous guest givers, even though I don't know who you are it is still awesome you have donated. Thanks again!! :)

  • Hello Again !

      2 August 2014

Hello everyone!! Lately I have been watching the diving at the Commonwealth Games, where there are 2 New Zealander's competing. One of which is my old coach, and the other is an Auckland diver who I will be going to Russia with! There are also many other divers that competed there that will also be going to Russia which is very exciting. It's really nice that there are still people donating even though I have hit the goal, but every donation is still welcome because I only intended to raise about half the needed funds for my trip from this page. Thanks again everyone!!!

  • New Update!!!

      16 July 2014

Hello everybody, I am overwhelmed with the amount of support I have got towards my trip. After 4 hard years of training, starting when mum saw an ad saying ""drop your kids for baby sitting and have a go diving for fun"". She didn't know it was a talent spotting for young children, which me and my sister were chosen for. When my sister decided to try different things, I kept on going. I am currently in the middle of my 3rd year of competitively competing in New Zealand and overseas. Yesterday I had 6 hours of training which consisted of training our speed and strength by doing different kinds of somersaults onto crash mats, and in the afternoon we did 900 pike ups (which are the equivalent of sit-ups). Today me and some other divers went to a trampoline park which has a dozen trampolines around this huge foam pit. This was a good time to practice twists and flips into the foam pit, which I have never experienced before as the facilities for diving in New Zealand are nothing like ones overseas :) I am so so so happy how this page is going, I have heard many comments about people who worked with my dad which I enjoyed reading. Thanks a million to everyone who has donated so far !!! :)))

  • Hello People

      14 July 2014

Hello all, I would just like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has taken the time to show their support for me on my way to Russia. It is lovely to hear from those of you who knew my father, I have heard a lot about him that I did not know before. Your support means so much to me and everyone who knew him says he would be proud. During these school holidays I have been training super hard, in fact, most days I am training twice a day. This morning I had an 8:30 start at the pool to train my platform list which I will be competing at the New Zealand Nationals in Auckland in August, and was back there at 3 to train my 3 metre dives that I will be competing in Russia!!! :) Thanks again everyone!! Anton :)))
