Aotea College is the only school in the Porirua region to qualify for this event. we are having to fundraise to help students attend.

The World Scholars Cup (WSC) is an international organisation which supports scholars and provides them with a competitive environment allowing them to thrive and develop their skills. Aotea Colleges experience with this competition began this time last year, when a three junior students entered a team and were immensely successful; definitively winning Regionals, qualifying for Globals in Cape Town and through substantial fund-raising the team of three managed get all the way to the Tournament of Champions at Yale University, Connecticut.
This year, twelve students took part in Regionals at Scots College (three senior teams, and a single junior team) and our college was just as, if not more successful. We were capable of showing the potential of our school, as well as our community to the entire Wellington Region with our three senior teams taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd in our respective division and the junior team attaining 3rd place. one of our senior students was able to achieve top individual scholar in the competition
All of our teams have accomplished so much through hard work and dedication and we've all qualified for the Global Rounds taking place in Melbourne in 8 weeks (August 16th). Everyone is eager to further represent our community on an international scale and excited for the experience.
Unfortunately, what stands in our way is the fees and costs associated with proceeding in these events. We know for a fact that without funding and support our team will be financially incapable of taking all members to the Global Rounds...
Per student, fees that need to be accounted for include airfares, accommodation and registration for the event, 10 students intend to proceed to Global Rounds. Three adult supervisors will also be attending, adding to the cost of airfares and accommodation with a single adult registration between them also needing to be covered.
the total estimated cost to attend this event will be $17,000 - $24,000

all funds will be used to get students to Melbourne and potentially Yale for Global rounds if they succeed.
