Fleur needs help to see her family during rehabilitation from brain injury. We're exhausting every avenue of help but need a little more.
Nelson / Tasman
On 25th October Fleur Creedmore had a car accident in the Lewis Pass on a bad corner that has since seen another accident. No one else was involved. Fleur's injuries resulted in a Traumatic Brain Injury requiring ICU care for 12 days then the Neurological ward ever since awaiting transfer to rehabilitation centre. She's expected to make a good recovery over time - helped by family involvement.
Fleur has surprised everyone. In a coma for 4 days with a grim prognosis, she then woke up and made a hard-fought 'rapid recovery' ever since. Walking and talking, but with some post traumatic amnesia, memory issues and the usual brain injury affects like fatigue. Intensive rehabilitation (fully funded) is needed for her recovery. Fleur doesn't drink or smoke, is very fit and strong, a great baseline for rehabilitation.
Fleur's family have been by her side from day one with some visiting where work and school permits.
Fleur's daughter Trinity left her job back in Australia to come spend time with her, her two younger daughters Natalie and Evie and their dad Brad have made regular trips from Nelson to the hospital and later the rehabilitation centre, as will sister Jessie and Mum Raewyn.
The rehabilitation centre Fleur is getting transferred to is in Auckland. That's a long way from home. Accommodation and travel costs will make it difficult to spend this crucially important time with Fleur and also impact on household costs for Fleur's immediate family.
I'm Fleur's sister Jessie, on behalf of Fleur's family and friends. We're working hard to ensure Fleur has every chance of making a full recovery.
Many people have asked how they can help. This fund will help with the significant travel and accommodation costs involved in helping Fleur have the needed access to family during rehabilitation and ongoing associated costs.
Overwhelmed and grateful 20 November 2024
Hi to everyone who has donated.
Fleur's family is overwhelmed with your generosity and kind messages.
We will update you along the way.
Fleur's being flown to Auckland in the morning unless the air ambulance is needed for an emergency.
Your love and support is so very appreciated we really hardly know what to say.
Know that you're helping a wonderful person with a family who love her to pieces and we'll work hard for Fleur to ensure she recovers and gets home ASAP.
Much love
Fleur's family.
