Ashburton Methodist Baring Square Church - Re-roof fund
Ashburton, Canterbury
The Ashburton Methodist Parish Baring Square Church in Ashburton situated in central Ashburton was built in 1926. The church was badly damaged in the 2010/11 Christchurch earthquakes.
Over the last 12 months the building has been undergoing a $3 million strengthening and refurbishment exercise.
The Parish has funding in hand for this amount and progress was being made with the end in sight.
What was not anticipated was the rain storm which hit the Ashburton District at the end of May 2021.
This has called for the replacement of the original slate roof with long run colour steel.
Fortunately the unspent part of the budget for fitting out and finishing work can be directed towards the cost to re roof the building.
However this leaves the sound system, seating, painting and sundry works lacking finishing off funds.
We are appealing through the ‘give a little’ page to all those with a Methodist connection or even a kindly spirit to help with the finishing of this project.
This plea will also be going out to the Ashburton Community, present and ex Parishioners and all with any association with the Ashburton Methodist Parish. Your help in whatever way will be greatly appreciated.
