Ash's Hairloss Journey

Some of you will be aware that Ash has had a tough year after a grueling pregnancy. She brought her beautiful baby safely into the world in December after months of serious complications. We all thought things were finally on the up for Ash, Alex and the kids.  Unfortunately, she recently started to experience drastic and sudden hairloss. We are talking huge clumps of hair every day.  This has understandably been very distressing. Within a week,  Ash had lost the majority of her hair.  The heartbreaking decision was then made to shave it all off to minimise the trauma.

A diagnosis of Alopecia has been made, which is a permanent auto immune condition with no cure.

Ash is kind, caring and generous. She gives back through her charity, Maddie's Memory,  providing many bereaved families with free tangible memory keepsakes of lost babies and children.

As the close inner circle of family and friends, it's a great time to give back to Ash.  We want her to feel confident, supported and above everything else - loved.

Ash will need a high quality wig for permanent hairloss and this comes with a large price tag. A high quality wig begins around the $5,000 mark and unfortunately the subsidy from the government falls drastically short than the amount required. There are also other costs that her and her family will incur, such as medical expenses, travel to Dunedin to go and have her wig moulded and made, microblading when she loses her eyebrows (as this has also begun) and products to help with any deficiencies her body might have.

Alopecia comes with a huge price tag for sufferers and the government has currently been petitioned to make substantial changes for sufferers because the supports and subsidies in place are just not nearly enough to help. In the mean time, we want to raise enough funds to help Ash on her Alopecia Journey, so she can comfortably choose the right wig and products, without the family facing added financial pressure.
