Replacement disability assistance dog to keep me independent in the community
Point Chevalier, Auckland
I recently lost my assist dog Zach (pictured) to cancer. I am fundraising for my next dog who will do medical detection for me. The dog is from NZ Search and Medical Detection who are authorised to train assistance dogs. I have a complex disability, including mobility issues (wheelchair user) and adrenal insufficiency etc. My new dog will scent my cortisol levels to keep things stable and indicate when i need to take more medication before I am aware of the need. A bit like a diabetic dog. He will also do mobility tasks for me (picking up dropped items, fetching things etc). I would appreciate any donation you are able to spare. This will help me keep working part time in domestic violence and staying connected with the community.
My contribution to my next assistance dog.
Thank you so much for your donations 20 July 2024
I am continuing to grieve the loss of my gorgeous Zach, but so looking forward to getting my next assistance dog. I am not a person to be without a dog. I am continuing to knit and sell my wee baby hats to raise more donations. Thanks so much for your donations, I am really touched by them
