Our goal is to collect as many products as possible for the wonderful women who struggle with period poverty, when they shouldn't have to.
Auckland
Period Poverty is an issue in New Zealand which many women struggle with, when they shouldn't have to. In case you are unaware about what this term entails, currently there are many young girls and women who are unable to afford sanitary products. This means finding an alternative, such as newspaper or toilet paper and for some of girls in school, having to take one week off every month.
When you are in high school, it is hard enough getting use to the way your body is changing and learning how to manage your period without having to worry about if you will have enough products (if any) or the pressure you may be putting on your cash strapped family for money for these personal items.
This is why our goal is to supply as many sanitary items as possible to young women in NZ secondary schools. If you would like to help us support these wonderful women, then please donate! We will be collecting until the 15th of September – all donations will go towards sanitary items.
Sanitary items collected will be going towards SPINZS (Sanitary Products in New Zealand Schools). They are a wonderful organisation who send donated products out to secondary schools around NZ. I have chosen this organisation because the girls they support have no disposable income, and no control over the way money in the house is budgeted. This results in these girls having less control over this very personal situation with parents and families who are not in a financial position to improve this embarrassing time every month either - which is stressful for all parties concerned.

I have started this collection, because a lot of people believe that issues such as Period Poverty are not apparent in New Zealand. However, Period Poverty is huge issue many young women face. So, Aunt Flow's Helpers want to do everything we can to help reduce this strain.
This money will be going towards purchasing sanitary items, which we will then pass on to SPINZ.
Extending our Campaign 18 September 2018
Hi all, due to all of the wonderful support we have had so far we are going to be extending our campaign until this Sunday. We have had a few people request this as they want to make sure they are able to help these girls through exams by making sure they have all the products they need. We have also had the wonderful opportunity to be supported by the event Suffrage 125 this week.
Thank you to all those that have donated so far - this is going to make such a difference in these girls lives
