Help Support Baby Goulter

  • Week 16/17 Update

      13 November 2025

After almost four months, I am pleased to say that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. After undergoing two open heart surgeries, enduring a staff infection alongside other illnesses, and navigating feeding through an NG tube, there are murmurings of Anaiah coming home. The initial 3-5 weeks in hospital that we had anticipated have stretched out for far longer. In some ways we are thankful we didn't know it would go on for this long.

Whilst Anaiah will still need to navigate her feeding via an NG tube at home (hopefully introducing a bottle), breathing support at night, weekly heart echos, respiratory follow-up, and a surgery on her cleft soft palate next year, we are incredibly thankful that this bundle of joy will be finally joining us at home. There isn't a set date yet, but what a relief it is to begin to look forward to an end of this hospital stay. We are incredibly thankful for the support of our friends, family, wider community and even strangers from around the world - thank you for holding the Goulters and wider family during this time. There is still a journey ahead, but we hope that Anaiah can begin to enjoy just being a little kid.

Thank you for all of your generous donations, as well as the many kind words and prayers.

Anaiah underwent another heart surgery a week and a half ago, this time to remove 'vegetation' (a staff infection that found its way to her heart). The surgery was successful and Anaiah is recovering more and more each day. She is continuing to gain weight and spend more time on high flow oxygen.

Due to this infection, Anaiah will be receiving antibiotics through a line to her heart for 6 weeks post surgery. This means we're anticipating another 4-5 weeks in hospital for Anaiah, Kate & Paul.

Anaiah is also still waiting to see a couple of different teams at the hospital too, trying to shine light on a few of the question marks that are still around her health. We are continuing to hope for healing and wellness, and are enjoying seeing her begin to make eye contact and find her voice.
