Week 16/17 Update
13 November 2025After almost four months, I am pleased to say that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. After undergoing two open heart surgeries, enduring a staff infection alongside other illnesses, and navigating feeding through an NG tube, there are murmurings of Anaiah coming home. The initial 3-5 weeks in hospital that we had anticipated have stretched out for far longer. In some ways we are thankful we didn't know it would go on for this long.
Whilst Anaiah will still need to navigate her feeding via an NG tube at home (hopefully introducing a bottle), breathing support at night, weekly heart echos, respiratory follow-up, and a surgery on her cleft soft palate next year, we are incredibly thankful that this bundle of joy will be finally joining us at home. There isn't a set date yet, but what a relief it is to begin to look forward to an end of this hospital stay. We are incredibly thankful for the support of our friends, family, wider community and even strangers from around the world - thank you for holding the Goulters and wider family during this time. There is still a journey ahead, but we hope that Anaiah can begin to enjoy just being a little kid.
