Amber George - The Next Stage

Hi, I’m Amber George, an Aquablack swimmer and defending NZ Open Champion in both the 50m and 100m backstroke (LCM), and holder of the NZ Open Record in the 50m Backstroke (SCM).

Last year I had the honour of representing New Zealand at the World Aquatics Championships as part of my first international team and earning my Aquablack number (#290). Wearing the silver fern on the world stage was a dream come true and the result of years of hard work and perseverance.

As an emerging athlete, I am still building the support needed to compete at this level. Access to training opportunities, performance support and international racing play an important role in my development, but these opportunities come with significant self-funded costs.

This year has included altitude training in Arizona and competing at the Australian Open Championships. Since making the 2025 World Aquatics Championships, I have gone on to earn selection to represent NZ at the Commonwealth Games and qualify for the 2026 Pan Pacific Championships.
