SEND ME BACK HOME TO MY MAMA

It’s been a long 3 years since I last saw my Mama. My heart has weeped for us to be reunited. Now I hold a greater faith, a sense of relief, as the borders have opened and I’m finally able to go home.

My grandmother is not only my grandmother, she is the one that has taken care of me since I was a baby. I carry with me the wisdom she has passed down.

She is a deeply rooted source of the medicine I offer

My strength is her prayers

The courage that I have, is from her grief

Her love is my home

I dream of holding her hand and walking through the village

I feel her presence

I see her smile in my eyes

I smell the food I will cook for her

I hear the songs we will sing and the stories we will share

I will bring my son

I will introduce her to my love, let her feel that I’m being cared for

I will give time, to she who gave time to me

I am letting her know her prayers are working

One of the main veins of who I am is my Mama - I must return home and nourish my roots so I can show up even more. To everyone and to myself.
