12-year-old Bayleigh Teepa-Tarau just won the national golf title at the Zespri AIMS Games ... after only playing three nine-hole rounds before!
Bayleigh has autism and, until recently, he spent most of his time in class under his desk, not speaking.
As well as winning the individual title, Bayleigh helped his schoolmates win the team title. The boys from Tāneatua School were playing against students from schools around New Zealand.
Bayleigh's talent is phenomenal - he scored a staggering 87 Stableford points from his three nine-hole rounds - and all with BORROWED golf clubs wearing basketball boots.
Golf’s his thing… he loves it and he’s clearly super talented. He’s from the tiny Bay of Plenty town of Tāneatua - they don’t even have a golf course and he played his round in basketball boots and with borrowed clubs.
Let’s make sure that next time he hits the green, he’s got his own clubs and help raise some money to get him some coaching so he can pursue his passion.
Golf’s an expensive sport so let’s help give Bayleigh a boost so he can pursue his dream.
His Mum, Dad and Grandad are all behind him (literally they followed him in a golf cart at AIMS) … let’s show him the rest of NZ is too.
Who knows? He could be our greatest golfer yet.
The money will be spent on a set of golf clubs for Bayleigh and any other golf related expenses - coaching, competitions and the like.
Funds will be paid to Bayleigh's mum Pare

A quick thank you to all of you who have donated thus far - what an epic response.
Pare, Bayleigh's Mum is thankful and overwhelmed at all the support for their talented boy.
Golf is an expensive sport for any family and this will really help keep Bayleigh smiling and smashing balls on the green (and not under his desk!) and get the coaching he needs to really realise his potential.
