Supporting the man who helped shape responsible 4WD at Muriwai for over a decade.
Muriwai, Auckland
Brad is one of those rare people whose impact can’t be summed up in one moment. For more than a decade he has quietly shown up for his community.
After a tragedy at Muriwai Beach in 2015, Brad stepped forward when no one knew what to do. He started the Muriwai Beach 4x4 community, giving 4WDers a place to learn, stay safe and speak with one voice. Since then he has spent hours in council meetings, town halls, clean-ups and online discussions. If something is happening at Muriwai, Brad is there - even during chemo and after surgeries.
Muriwai is home for Brad. His love for this place, and the people who use it, drives him to protect it even while facing a cancer battle most never see.
Brad is calm, humble, funny and kind. His wife-to-be Farleigh, and her daughter Harper, stand beside him with incredible strength, even putting wedding plans on hold so he can keep fighting.
Now it’s our turn to show up.
Brad’s next treatment includes an unfunded targeted therapy called Vegzelma, used with his chemo (Folfiri). Vegzelma helps block the blood supply tumours need to grow, giving him his best chance to slow them down.
After two and a half years, the costs are stacking up. We’re helping fund two sets of six treatment cycles, about $20,000 each, with a $40,000 goal including fees.
If you’ve ever driven Muriwai, learned from the 4x4 page, joined a clean-up or simply enjoyed our coast, Brad has played a part in that.
Let’s rally for him the way he’s rallied for us.
We are creating this page as Kiwi4wd, on behalf of the many 4WDers and community members who have been impacted by Brad’s decades of advocacy and kindness.
Funds will support Brad’s unfunded treatment and medical expenses as he continues his fight. We’re helping fund two sets of six treatment cycles, around $20,000 each, with a $40,000 goal to give him the best opportunity moving forward.
