  • Jamie update 13th August

    Bit of an update

Five days into Chemo and I seem to be tolerating it fairly well so far.

Had a bone marrow biopsy which was shit house over the weekend. Then yesterday I had some chemo injection into my spinal area cause this sneaky little fuck likes to weasel its way in there.

They finally settled on a diagnosis and I have Burkitts Lymphoma. So being sent to Auckland was the right call.

Had MRIs to see if my brain was ok. Didn’t find anything.

The only physical evidence I have of being sick is this bloody lump that’s taken a mortgage out on my neck.

Im cautiously happy to say that after 5 days of treatment it is 1/4 of its size when coming to hospital.

Thanks again for everyone’s support for Me, Fiona and our boys.

The people who’ve made meals, the friends who’ve travelled to be with Fi, my mates who gave up weekend time to help on the farm, we will forever be grateful.

Toni Milton who set up our give a little thing and anyone who made a contribution, Thank you for removing some of the financial burden on my wife. Taking some of the stress out of running our business, raising 3 kids and organising and paying relief staff is enormous.

Not really much else to report apart from with faith, love and science we are in the fight.

  • Jamie's Update 3rd August

Pathology still can’t pin point what exact sub type of Lymphoma we are up against.

Was let home from Middlemore over the weekend.

Been moved to Auckland today. Reason for that is one of the suspect types only gets treatment here.

    Middlemore don’t treat it.

So I’m in here as a sort of “being in the right place incase”

Staff at middlemore have been amazing and I say those nurses are like angels on earth. You couldn’t pay them enough.

Sucks to be further away from home. Away from my wife, boys and friends.

My sister spent 2 weeks with us offering anything she could. Spending hours and hours with me in hospital. I’m so grateful.

The support our family has received has been overwhelming.

Our friends in the community that are constantly asking what they can do, not so much for me but for Fiona and the boys, I can’t thank you all enough.

Half of my battle is going to be knowing they are ok.

Now, from what I understand so far is I’ve got an aggressive form of Lymphoma. This means it tends to grow quickly. But it is also its downfall. Because of this it trends to react really well to treatments.

So again, I’m in good hands. I feel incredibly loved and supported. It’s emotional. But fuck what’s life if you aren’t feeling anything.

I appreciate all the prayers and support.

    Let’s go to War
