Ballet is for Everyone

Ballet classes are really expensive - We are keen to run free mixed age and gender ballet classes in Wellington that are accessible to all children. Right now the cost of classes for ballet, and the cost of uniforms which are compulsory at most centres make ballet something a lot of children can never afford to do.

The classes we want to run won't be competitive, there will be no grading or separation of children based on skill. The emphasis will be on fun. We want to make sure parents don't have to pay for a uniform so we are hoping to be able to source (through your donations) dance clothes like tutus, tights, leotards, ballet shoes so that every child who attends has some dance clothes if they want them.

Our main aim is to make what can be an expensive hobby available to every child.

Any donations we receive will go toward hiring a dance studio for an hour once a week at Whitireia and for some dance supplies and uniforms for children who attend. We would also like to be able to give a koha to dancers who come to teach the children or perform for them. Lots of the kids would love to see a dancer so we would like to be able to approach the dance school and give a koha for any kids who want to to be able to see some ballet live.
