Raising funds to support BARK NZ, New Zealand’s only children's charity dedicated to the delivery of Animal Assisted Education.
Nationwide
At 6am on Friday, 23 January, a group of BARK NZ volunteers are going to be setting off on the Hillary Trail, a 70km trek through West Auckland's Waitakere Ranges. Not for the faint-hearted, the trek climbs mountains, crosses rivers, traverses beaches and takes in waterfalls amongst other beautiful scenery.
Typically a four-day experience, our volunteers, having completed that challenge between Christmas and New Year's Eve in 2013, will be looking to improve on that performance by completing the trek a whole day faster. That is, 70km in three days.
This years team of trekkers are dedicated to completing the challenge to assist BARK NZ fundraising efforts. Last year's Hillary Trail fundraiser generated over $3000 to assist BARK NZ in meeting their objective. This year’s aim is $7000 which will assist dramatically with the development of fresh new resources for the children BARK NZ works with.
BARK NZ is New Zealand's only children's charity dedicated to the delivery of Animal Assisted Education, empowering children to feel confident and be safe with and around dogs.
