Barnaby's Battle with Cancer

Barnaby, our absolute shining star. Since our last update we have gone through a lot. We had a midway on protocol MRI that showed a new lesion on his brain. While at first this was absolutely terrifying, I have been busy gaining second opinions, and other medical professionals in Australasia have done the same. And we now look to be in a better place! Some arent convinced it was Cancer and many agree it looked too odd to be metastases. But as it was in a dodgy spot for surgery, it wasn't worth the risk of paralysis to find out.

End of protocol scans have told us that whatever it is, is stable! We have had a stable MRI, a negative lumbar puncture and a clear PET scan! Yay! This puts us in a great spot at the moment and we are cleared to start radiation in coming weeks. We were attempting to get overseas for Proton and are still waiting on the final word for Govt. Funding for this but chances are we will be doing Photon in New Zealand. The Delta variant of Covid is much easier to avoid on our own doorstep and its a bit scary for what that could do to him if he were to catch it at the airport or in the US.

Barnaby is doing amazingly at home, he has been learning how to walk again, absolutely loves playing with his Marble runs and is obsessed with Crash Bandicoot at the moment 😅 he is a very happy wee man and we are beyond thrilled that he is doing so well.

    We LOVE you Boogie! ❤️❤️❤️

    Hi all,

Firstly I want to thank you all so much, on behalf of Mike, Ziggy and I and for our precious wee man Barnaby.

He is such a little fighter and is adopting a very spirited attitude at the moment, something we all admire (he's gotten very good at telling medical staff when he's had enough!) he is still finding the energy to play everyday and loves nothing more than curling up to watch his best mates Woody and Buzz on Toy Story.

After 2 rounds of multi agent Chemotherapy, his little body has suffered through a lot - but he is coming through strong and he is certainly fighting back. We are very anxious about what the next 3 rounds will bring but have no doubt that our little superhero can knock it out of the park 💜

At this stage we are starting to look into the possibility of Proton radiation overseas which would come at a high cost, but if it's the right thing for Barnaby then we will find a way to make it happen.

    Onwards and upwards!

We love you so much Boogie 💙
