Took gold in both -67 and the Open, a great comp for me leading into the Istanbul K1 in two weeks.

A really good open final fight with my good mate and top 10 ranked -75 fighter Gabor from Hungary.

Also a big shout out to Farmex Nitra Karate. It’s been awesome training in Slovakia and really honoured to represent them competing.

A massive thanks to Ray Morcomb and Michael Ettingshausen for putting together this awesome interview and highlights of the Oceania Championships, and also for creating an athlete support network on and off the mat.

A great start beating the Bronze medalist of the last K1 in the first round. I was winning in the second round but unfortunately lost a really close battle with my good friend from Greece. I had one flag on a few occasions, but unfortunately no coach so I couldn’t review. Ended up in the surgery room for the second time in Rabat, with a few stitches on the eye. Back training hard in Slovakia now with a good mindset on exactly what I need to work on, prepping for Istanbul in a few weeks

Some highlights from Sydney, where I took Gold in the Oceania champs and Australian open -67kg, along with silver the open weight. A great fight in the final and congrats to my good mate Mitchell Durham for the win. Winning the Oceania event was the next step in the Olympic qualification process, and so now I’m back overseas to compete and increase my world ranking towards Tokyo 2020.

Great day at the Arawaza cup in Germany taking Gold in -67kg and the Open, scoring an Arawaza Gi for the open win!

Really great completion running 12 mats with competitors from 24 nations, and a great lead up to Oceania in two weeks.

Awesome job from 🇦🇺Mandy Yap as well, taking gold in the Female Open!

A great start to the tournament season, winning Gold at Budapest at my first event. A strong competition, beating Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, Thailand and then Slovakia. Got a cheeky cut below the eye and some on the spot stitch work. Will hopefully heal up nicely as I travel to Berlin for the next one!
