We are trying to raise money for our much loved Brigie Duncan to assist in her medication Keytruda which will improve and prolong her life.

Wellington

Recently, I saw an image of a Colin McCahon painting titled, ‘I’m scared, I stand up’, and it made me reflect upon my resilient and tenacious sister-in-law, Brigie Duncan, who is confronting a stage 4 lung cancer diagnosis.

She has never spurned a challenge, particularly when it involves helping others (specifically children). At her home, last year, she dedicated six months to rehabilitating her mother who suffered a serious stroke. Without a whinge or a murmur of complaint about her own health, she worked lovingly on her mother’s mental and physical wellbeing, until she finally returned to her own home.

Personally, Brigie has withstood life changing vicissitudes along the way: none worse than this diagnosis. With real mettle, never scared, she has been relied upon to stand up. Yet, when a Givealittle page was suggested to raise assistance to fund Keytruda which will improve and prolong her life, she shirked; she flinched; she felt deeply uneasy. Publicly asking for financial assistance is nerve-racking. It takes humility to another level.

We all know this trajectory could be ours sometime. So, I hope you will feel the nudge to contribute. It may help Brigie see her children marry; hold her grandchildren; and attain the age of a superannuant.

Empirical data proves that Keytruda is effective.

PLEASE STAND WITH US and allay Brigie’s fears.

Rose Duncan's involvement (page creator)

I have been Brigie’s sister-in-law for nearly 45 years so have witnessed a good part of her life. Her role as a positive and stabilising force within her large family humbles me. Her selflessness is unrivalled. We all need her.

Use of funds

The funds raised through givealittle will go to Brigie’s medication which is not funded by the government in New Zealand. Any extra money will go toward helping others fighting cancer.
